BOTOX is essentially a purified protein that has been approved by the FDA for facial rejuvenation. Every nerve stimulates the muscles to contract by releasing a chemical known as acetylcholine. BOTOX essentially blocks the release of acetylcholine. This blockage is, fortunately – or in some ways, unfortunately – temporary, and the nerve regenerates its ability to overcome the block over time. Put simply, BOTOX temporarily paralyzes the muscles at the location where it is injected. Most wrinkle lines develop due to overactivity of the facial muscles – so they tend to lie perpendicular to the contracting muscles. BOTOX temporarily paralyzes the muscles, thereby reducing or erasing the wrinkles. How Long Does This Effect Last? Results will vary from person to person, but generally anywhere from three to four months. To see other patients’ results, view before and after photos. This time will increase if additional procedures, such as blepharoplasty or a brow lift, are being performed at the same time. Dr. Panchal will place one facelift incision in the cartilage of your ear, following the natural shadow line. The remaining incision will be placed behind your ear so that it is barely visible. Once the incisions have been made, Dr. Panchal will lift underlying skin and fat before tightening fascia in a vertical direction (Deep extended lift) to correct your jowls and lift your cheeks. Back to Top Nonsurgical Reshaping of Your Nose Many of us have a minor hump over the nose, feel that the nose is too short, or that it projects too little or too much. In the past, these minor corrections have required surgery. You can now have these corrected by having a filler along the nasal bridge, on the tip, or in the area where the nose starts between the eyebrows. Dr. Panchal will first evaluate you and see whether or not your complaint can be addressed in a nonsurgical manner. If you have a minor hump, it can be made smooth by injecting a facial dermal filler. Similarly, if your nose is too short or projects too much, Dr. Panchal can inject some filler to just the origin of the nose, between the eyebrows to correct projection. The procedure commonly takes two-and-a-half to three hours to perform depending on the complexity of work to be done during the surgery. After the surgery, a splint is placed over the nose to hold the nasal bones in proper alignment. Dr. Panchal does not pack the nose, as it is very uncomfortable for the patient to breathe through it.
